We once had six trillion trees, but deforestation reached its peak in the 1980s, when we lost a staggering 30 billion trees annually. Today, it's 'only' 10 billion a year, but even that figure is significant. To put it simply, India has about 35 billion trees. Now, think about our annual forest loss.
In a world teeming with three trillion trees, there's room for an extra trillion! These majestic guardians are our secret weapon against the climate crisis, buying us precious time. Restoring these lush forests is our path to keeping the temperature rise below 1.5°C.
While some scientists caution that trees alone won't solve the climate crisis, we emphasise that our one million trees mission is about more than just planting – it's about restoring. One tree, one pen, one plant can make an enormous difference at an individual level. Don’t you agree.
